Happy Thanksgiving!

OK, so being the freak I am, I wanted to see if anything had been done since school let out for Thanksgiving Break. Imagine my surprise to find the school wide open! I got to see the progress made....the science lab is in sadder shape than ever. While I always ragged on how gross it is/was, it looks downright pitiful now. And the bathrooms next door to the lab....they were the bane of my existence when we were there, I was always having to chase gangs of kids out of there! Well, no kids will be going in there ever again!

The East Field now.

Getting ready to move the Heller/Fluitt temp building!

So that's how they move these monsters....

Is the Progress Slowing Down Already?

Uh oh!
Nothing new has happened since Thursday, and the weather has been great. Maybe it's because it is almost Thanksgiving?
These pics were taken on Sunday. Terri and I were just checking everything out.

Terri on the Stairway to Nowhere.

The once-proud art room. :(

Everything looks so weird without the sidewalk coverings....and stairs....and ramps....and metal building skirts...

This used to lead to the art room. I could tell because it's covered with paint spatters!

Ivy still clinging on for dear life!

The Continuing Breakdown of the Temps

I managed to get back again on Thursday and take more pics as they worked on the old music/PE rooms and the art room. It rained all day Friday so no deconstruction was done. Too wet.

But first, a before look. This picture was taken in May. The music and PE rooms are on the right, the art room on the left, complete with stairs and sidewalk coverings.

After: the ramp leading up the stairs is now gone, along with the sidewalk coverings.

And now they're getting ready to bulldoze the stairs.

Now it's all gone. :(

Don't you just love how these temps are precariously balanced on cinder blocks?

Taking down the sidewalk coverings by the art room.

The stairs are next to go.

The debris is piling up in what used to be our parking lot.

Temp Buildings Finally Going Bye-Bye!

So they finally started taking apart the temps today, but damn that plywood fence! It was totally blocking my view! So I asked the workers, in my nicest voice, if I could snap a few photos of what had been done so far. The awnings have been taken down for the length of about 5 buildings and 3 stairways have been removed thus far. It's really weird looking. I will try and finagle my way back there again tomorrow!

The awnings are down.

Ms. O'Rourke's old 5th grade room.

No more stairs!

Ms. Heller and Fluitt's rooms on the left, also with no stairs.

I'm assuming all that trash wasn't under the stairs all along...?
